 Hand-colored prints are something special, especially so if the edition is small. John Sumrow  made only four of this zombie print and hand-colored each one with acrylic ink, which makes each print completely unique. As of writing this post, two of the four zombie prints are left. Relief prints are one of my favorite art forms to practice as well as look at. I was quite focused on photography until my last year of university, where I took the printmaking class and fell in love. Now my heart is torn between ink and light and I don’t think I’ll ever choose.

I felt like I haven’t shown enough relief prints on Shop Art Direct , so I was very excited to come across Thomas Shahan‘s work. His relief prints show incredible control over his cutting tools as well fantastic understand of depth, value, and texture, which can be difficult to reproduce when carving wood. It’s certainly not the same as painting or drawing.

Erika Moen is one of my favorite web comic artists. Turns out she’s a woman of many talents! Along with comics and limited edition silkscreen prints, she paints, collages, makes clay sculptures and even models! She is the model in thepreviously featured Dreams of the Fisherman’s Wife photo series.
